This morning we headed out of the Hotel north to the Park Guell which was designed by Gadii and his home for over 20 years is a museum. Next time you call someone or something Gadii you know where the term came from. :)
4.5 kilometers (2+ miles) hike up hill we found our way to the park, which is very large and surrounds the Gaddi buildings. On the way we found some gentelman playing Bochi Ball in a neighorhood plaza. While the ski was cloudless and blue, the wind offset the sun and made it a bit on the chilly side from time to time. Still a lot of folks out and about including all the scooters. We learned that 50's are norm for winter as the high, so eveyone rides a scooter.
Similar to what we found in Hong Kong there were escaltors in neighborhoods. Almost 100% apartments. Very few single dwelling homes.
The area of the tour is winthin a larger park and was intended as a residence that became a park with a school (yes still an active school). Like so many architectual wonders, it is always hard to capture in a picture. Suffice it to say the designs are found through out Barcelona and around the world. The park sits in the foothills around the city that make for a great back drop, but also wonderful views of the entire city scape. You can see la Sagrada Familia where we visited yesterday along with other landmarks we've come to know.
The upper portion of the structure is a very large sand based area where they would host performances. The out section is concrete seating with tile enlayed. Very comfortable and faced the sun!!
Here are an assortment of pictures of the entire park area.
After the Guell Park we hiked further up the hillside to another park and then ventured all the way down to a few blocks from our hotel. There we stopped to wet our whistle and have a snack of Truffle Manoyase and French Fries.
Then some time resting and prepping to head out to all the street restaurants for dinner. We stopped at two locations and tried a variety of foods. On the way home we stopped into the Lindt candy shp and purchased an assortment for the room!! We also found a store named after our grand daughter Morgan!
Day three comes to a close with pacing up our suitcases for a early morning departure for Munich Germany on Lufthansa. Stay tuned for more updates tomorrow from Germany.
