Munich - Day 5

Day 5 found us waking up to a drizzly day in Munich and my one day of work at the Electronica Conference.
We have a river running by the English Garden Park that you can hear out our window.
I headed out by 10:00 a.m. to the Muchen Trade Center (old airport location turned into conference and hotel center) to attend one of if not the world's largest Electronics trade show to meet with my European peers and their two key distribution partners.  Suffice it to say out of all the trade shows in my career, this was the biggest by far.  Successful event and glad it worked out and enabled us to spend some time in Germany.

Janie started her day working with the Concierge to setup our castle tour for tomorrow and work on figuring out where her iPad could be.  The Hotel was extremely helpful on both fronts and will work with the airport to locate the lost electronics.

Then Janie headed out to take the Munich Tour Bus and check out all the sites of Munich.  One of the interesting facts learned is that the English Gardens we walked through is actually bigger than Central Park. She also enjoyed seeing the BMW plant and many venues from the 1992 Olympic's.  The first brewery was started in 1326 and is still going strong.  There are 6 breweries still here from the 14th and 15th centuries.  After the bus tour, she roamed around, saw a demonstration and asked the Police what they were protesting.  The protesters were mad they couldn't get a job.  Janie asked why and was told because they were illegal aliens.  Don't get us started on the current trend of protesting everything not liked or that seems unfair.  A great segway is when Janie found a beautiful church that she could tour.

Deli where Janie ate lunch - typical small market where folks purchase and stand at the counter or table outside to eat.
Around 5:30 we met up at Marienplatz and headed straight to Christ Watch shop to purchase Janie's new Tissot watch for her birthday.  It replaces the one she has worn for over 18 years.  It looks fantastic and updates her look!!

After that we headed back into the area where we've found all the restaurants in town (there are tons of places to eat) to find a place to eat.  We went into one and each ordered a different Schnitzel.  Mine was with bacon, onions and potatoes and Janie's was cream sauce and mushrooms.  Both were excellent.

Yum Yum after a long day at a trade show and no lunch!  Paulaner Im Restaurant!!
We cabbed back to the hotel after dinner and grabbed some desert in the lounge and a night cap.  Then back to the room to catch up on the latest politics and prep for the next day.  Our initial stash of Euros is running low, so need to freshen the pile sometime tomorrow.  We keep running into can't charge it because less than 10 Euros.  I'm sure that has to do with CC fees, but 99% of US stores figured out how to build that into their pricing I assume.

Janie also had them move us into a Suite since it was her 60th Birthday, so we able to enjoy that luxury two nights.  She has leveraged that position extremely well throughout the trip!!  Even getting discount on her watch.  She calls herself a cheap date, which I call a bargain hunter to enable additional spending.  I love her either way.
